How to check for the Direct X Version and Video Card Display installed on your computer system:
  • Click the Start button (usually on the lower left of your screen).
  • When the window opens, click RUN, and on the dialog box type: dxdiag and click OK.
  • Click the System tab and read from the bottom up and you should see the Direct X Version listed.
  • Click the Display tab and you should see the video card that is installed on your system.
  • On the Display tab, under Direct X Features, the DirectDraw Acceleration, the Direct3D Acceleration, and the AGP Texture Acceleration should be enabled. There are test buttons for DirectDraw and Direct3D that you may want to run a test.
  • The test results should be displayed in the box below the test buttons. You may want to save and exit or exit.
How to check the version of the Operating System installed on your computer:
  • Click the Start button (usually on the lower left of your screen).
  • When the window opens, RIGHT click "My Computer", and when this window opens, highlight properties and click Properties.
  • On the General tab you should see your general system information.
  • Click OK when you are done.
