Where is the Academy located?
Our facility is located in Northridge, California - 35 miles northwest of Los Angeles. The address is:
19521 Business Center Drive, Northridge, CA 91324. It is approximately 35 minutes drive north of Los Angeles International Airport.
Which hotel is closest to the Academy?
We recommend you stay at the Extended Stay of America. The hotel is a very basic, no-frills hotel, but it is a convenient 5-minute walk to the academy.  The hotel address is: 19325 Londelius Street, Northridge, CA 91324.  The hotel has suite-style rooms with a kitchenette, and accommodates 1 to 4 guests.  It is located in a safe neighborhood and is nearby chain restaurants and shopping malls. How close is Northridge to the theme parks and other points of interest?
Northridge is located 60 miles north of Disneyland theme parks and 25 miles north of Universal Studio.  We are 30 minutes away from Hollywood Boulevard and Beverly Hills.  If you like to visit the famous Malibu Beach, it is only a 25 minutes drive from our facility.
Which airport should I fly into?
Students should fly into Los Angeles International Airport - LAX. Do not fly into Burbank or John Wayne airports.
How do I get to the Academy from Los Angeles Airport?

How do I get to the Academy from the hotel?
A staff member from CalJava will pick up students at 8:00 AM. from the Extended Stay hotel.  Students may also walk.
Should I be worried about meals while I am taking classes?
Breakfast, lunch, snacks and beverages will be provided during the class sessions.
What do I need to bring to class?
CalJava will provide all the necessary materials (cake dummies, rolled fondant, tools and cutters, piping gel, etc.) that are necessary for you to complete the class projects.  However, we recommend students bring their own apron to wear over their clothes during class.  If you would like, you may bring a photo album or pictures from past works to share with your fellow classmates.
Will students have the opportunity to bring their finished project home?
Yes. If you would like for us to ship the projects to you, there will be additional shipping and handling fees.
Will the student receive Certificate of Completion?
Yes, each student will receive a signed Certificate at the last day of class.
May I take pictures during class?
Yes, you may take still pictures only (please, no video camera allowed).
What if CalJava has to cancel my class and I have already booked my travel plans?
It is rare, but occasionally CalJava may have to cancel a class.  If this occurs, rest assured CalJava will provide the students with as much advanced notice as possible and will refund the student's Course Fee immediately.  It is the student's responsibility to cancel their hotel reservations and airline flights.  As a safety measure, students may purchase travel insurance and may do so at their own expense.  Please contact your airline carrier for travel insurance fees and information.
