CALJAVA INTERNATIONAL, INC (CJI) was founded by Daniel and Laurie Budiman back in 1985. The first venture CJI was a full line retail bakery in the city of West Hills, California until 1989 when the bakery was converted into specialty cake store. Sweet Inspiration was a name given to one of the design of a cake which made the bakery became famous of its creation “White Chocolate Shaving cheese cake wedding cakes”. The bakery was the only bakery in southern California that able to offer such unique designs. 

CJI sold all the bakeries in 1995 when it was at the top of its prime. CJI went full speed with manufacturing ready to use gum paste in 1993. Today CJI has the largest selection of ready to use gum paste flowers for cake decoration in the world.

Another undertaking venture is in 2004 when CJI started to publish its own magazine called: Here Comes the Cake the only up-scale magazine that give every cake decorator in the world the cutting edge to compete in this competitive and demanding world of cake decorating.

It does not stop Laurie and Daniel to expand the horizon and possibility of CJI business opportunity, on January 4^th 2005 the first class of CalJava International School of Cake Decorating and Sugar Craft was opened to 29 satisfied students from all over the United States.
